Medical Technologist - Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Lowville, New York.
2+ years of experience. Possession of a New York State Department of Education license and current registration as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. This work involves the performance and supervision of specialized analyses in the laboratory of the Lewis County General Hospital. The tests performed by the Clinical Laboratory Technologist may be in any of the laboratory areas such as hematology, bacteriology, chemistry, serology, urinalysis, or histology. The position differs from that of Laboratory Technician in that work performed is more complex and it entails training and supervisory responsibilities. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Technologist with considerable leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out assigned duties. Does related work as required. Thorough knowledge of standard modern laboratory practices, techniques, equipment technology and safety precautions; thorough knowledge of the practices governing the conduct of scientific laboratory tests; thorough knowledge of the recognized fields of laboratory specialization; a high degree of skill in the operation and care of modern laboratory equipment and apparatus; a high degree of skill in the performance of difficult and routine laboratory tests; ability to plan and supervise the work of others in laboratory techniques; ability to prepare clear and accurate reports of tests; ability to understand and follow complex technical oral and written instructions; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
