Appreciation for Allied Jobs Means Job Well Done for Recruiter

Gratefulness is an essential component to happiness, and for Candice Slaughter, senior recruiting consultant for Club Staffing, the appreciation she receives from the allied healthcare professionals she works with every day makes her job that much more enjoyable.


“The best part of my job is the gratitude that people have for finding them a job and allowing them to venture out into a new career,” she said. “I also like that it is a never the same job on a day-to-day basis, and it’s definitely an adrenaline rush from time to time. The work I do is exciting and not repetitive.”

Candice started her career with Club Staffing, an AMN Healthcare company, over two and a half years ago after working as a restaurant manager. She thrives in the fast pace of the recruitment and staffing world. She also understands the important role she plays in her travelers’ lives as they embark on an allied healthcare career.

“Recruiters are one of the number one elements of a traveler’s overall experience because we are their go-to person and we’re their lifeline. They are away from home and family and may not know anyone at first, and we are that familiar voice and that touch of home.”

Choosing a reputable company to work with is an important part of the travel experience, and finding a recruiter who you mesh with and can help direct your allied healthcare career should be taken just as seriously.

“A traveler should look for a recruiter who has an open line of communication and is available when they have questions and concerns. The recruiter should be someone who is understanding and looks for allied jobs that fit what you are looking for--as opposed to just putting a traveler in any job they may be credentialed for.”

Over the past few years, Candice has placed hundreds of allied professionals in positions across the country. Her most important piece of advice for them? Be open to new possibilities and stay flexible.

“I always tell my travelers a few things: have an open mind, do your research, and find places that you would like to go…but also be open to places that you wouldn’t think that you would want to go,” she said. “Travel is a great way to be able to see places that you wouldn’t normally go.”

“Travel is also a great résumé-builder, so it’s important to be open to small and large facilities. Being open-minded makes a huge difference and can open many doors.”

In addition to the satisfaction that comes with helping her allied professionals expand and grow their careers, Candice takes pride in the relationships she maintains with her network of past and current travelers.

“The relationships that you build as a recruiter are really amazing,” she said. “Even though I have travelers that are now in permanent positions, I still keep in contact with them, and I meet up with them when I go to different events. They’ve become friends.”

Work–life balance is another great benefit of Candice’s career with Club Staffing. When she is not helping her travelers find allied jobs, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and competing in fitness competitions.
